Miracles in Madagascar
When I landed in the capital of Madagascar, I received a report from our Festival director. He said,
Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world, but
our Festival was on a small island just off the northern coast of Madagascar.
It was in the city of Nosy-be, a city that is fifty percent Muslim. There are
many places we could go to preach the Gospel, but Nosy-be is the type of city I
like to visit. There are a few small churches in the city but the majority of
the population does not believe in Jesus.
As I flew into the city, I prayed, “God, help us to lift
Jesus up in this city. I pray that everyone in the city; Muslims, animists, and
Christians have an encounter with the living God this week.”
Our festival director still had a stack of posters that he
had saved. At 5am in the morning a team of young people from the local churches
marched out into the neighborhoods and put up new posters in order to replace
the ones that had been torn down. Our persistence in the midst of persecution
would produce results.
Despite the difficulty with the posters, the first night’s
attendance was strong. Everyone loved the upbeat music. When I started to
speak, I announced, “I welcome our Muslim friends and I welcome our Christian
friends. This festival is for everyone. Jesus will perform miracles for anyone
who trusts Him, regardless of your religion.” About one dozen people were
healed on the first night. The outstanding miracle was a man who was deaf in
one year who was suddenly able to hear perfectly. As I tested his hearing, the
crowd started to celebrate.
The next morning, about two hundred pastors and leaders
attended our Fire Conference. I taught on the importance of evangelism and
challenged the believers to go out into their neighborhoods and invite people
to the Festival. In the afternoon, I had some free time so I visited the local
food market to talk with the locals and invite them to come to the Festival. In
the market there were dozens of food stands full of carrots, tomatoes, spices,
eggs, meat, live chickens, fish, and open bags of rice. As I walked around, I
asked the shop owners, “Did you go to the Festival last night?” Many of them
had attended. One shop owner said, “I am a Muslim but I went last night.” I
asked him, “What did you think?” He replied, “I saw many miracles. My wife is
very sick. Tonight I will bring her for prayer.” Right there in the public market
place, this Muslim shopkeeper allowed me to lay hands on him and pray for him
and his wife.
That night, the crowd size increased. Word had spread about
the miracles that Jesus was performing. We announced, “Jesus is more than a
prophet. He is also Lord and Savior. Jesus came from heaven and gave His life
by dying on the cross to pay the price for sin. Everyone who calls on the name
of Jesus will be saved.” When the altar call was given, I noticed Muslim people
throughout the crowd that were praying with us for salvation.
On the final night, the crowd increased again. Four
thousands decision cards were passed out by our councilors to people who prayed
for salvation. Many of the people who decided to follow Christ came from Muslim
families. The local churches will be meeting with these people and they will
start the long process of discipleship.
The Bible tells us there will be great rejoicing in heaven
when a single sinner repents. I also rejoice when people decide to give their
lives to Jesus Christ. This is why we do what we do. Tears of joy fill my eyes
every time I have the privilege of introducing people to Jesus. There is no
greater feeling then knowing that a person has turned from darkness to light,
from sin to holiness, from a false religion to a true relationship with a
living God.
Thank you for helping me to preach the Gospel. Because of
you, the Muslims of Nosy-be, Madagascar had an opportunity to hear the good
news about Jesus Christ. Because of you, many sick people received miracles.
Because of you, heaven will be a little bit fuller and hell will be a little
bit emptier.

A Nation Transformed
We visited the chief of police in Esperanza and prayed for him. He was so moved, he invited us to return the next morning to speak to the police in the city. Fifty policemen stood at attention as I preached and we prayed with many of them to receive salvation. The local fire department helped set up the platform for our festival. Teachers and city administrators attended our leadership conference. The wives of two different mayors came to our women’s conference. A congressman attended our youth event.
The governor of
the state of Intibucá attended our leadership conference and the festival. As
the evangelistic event drew to a close, the governor came to the platform,
knelt down on his knees, and cried out to God. He publically repented for the
sins of the people and asked God to bless his state.
Eighteen months
ago, I participated in a nationwide event in Honduras called “One Nation, One
Day.” It was inspired by Isaiah 66:8, “Can a nation be saved in a day? Can a
country be brought forth in a moment?” Eighteen evangelists joined together to
conduct eighteen Jesus festivals in the capital of every state in Honduras.
Over 2,000 missionaries flooded the nation to demonstrate the love of God in
tangible ways through medical brigades and food distribution. The outreach was
featured on the front-page of every newspaper in Honduras as the nation turned
toward God. I gave away 520,000 books to people who prayed with our team to
receive salvation. The fruit of this amazing outreach continues today.
For example, the city of San Pedro Sula has been known as “the murder capital of the world” for the past several years. The city has been plagued by drug and gang related violence. Since the recent invasion of missionaries, the military in Honduras claims that crime in the city has gone down by 60%. Suicide dropped by 15%. According to the FAO, extreme poverty in Honduras has dropped by 3.4%. In the past few months, several notorious drug dealers in Honduras have been apprehended and sent to the United States to face trial. Corrupt politicians have been thrown into jail.
Previously the
teachers of Honduras have frequently gone on strike. But last year, all the
schools in Honduras completed the entire school year without any teachers going
on strike. This is the first time in twenty-five years that school children in
Honduras have received a full two hundred days of education.
Two years ago, I
visited Honduras and witnessed serious crimes. I saw an SUV riddled with bullet
holes with blood on the front seat. A church usher, who worked as a taxi
driver, was murdered the night before I preached at his church. But, on this
trip, the streets felt safe and the nation was peaceful. While there is much
that needs to be done, the nation is headed in the right direction.
The church has
been unified and pastors from different denominations are working together.
Last Sunday, I preached for Misael Argeñal, the pastor of La Cosecha, the
largest church in Honduras. He says, “For many years the pastors of Honduras
have prayed for our nation. We are so happy to see the nation of Honduras turn
toward God.”
Last year,
Honduras voted in an election. The two main candidates included Juan Orlando
Hernández, a man who looks favorably upon the church, and a socialistic
candidate who is aligned with Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro. In past years,
elections in Honduras have produced violence and great disharmony but this
time, the election process was peaceful and United Nations observers certified
the results. The socialistic candidate received 28.8% of the vote but lost to
the man who loves God.
On October 25,
2104, Juan Orlando Hernández, the president of Honduras and his wife knelt down
publicly and prayed for the nation. This is the first time in history that a
president of Honduras has humbled himself before the nation and cried out for
God’s blessing to be upon his people. For over two hundred years, the United
States of America has experienced prosperity because of the prayers of our
first president George Washington who frequently declared days of fasting and
prayer for the entire nation. In the same way, the prayers of the president of
Honduras will bring the favor and blessing of God upon his nation.
When asked about
the impact of the “One Nation, One Day” outreach, the president of Honduras
stated, “First of all, it was a spectacular day for Honduras. I assure you
there has never been a moment in history with so much passion and unity for a
single purpose. It was a blessing for Honduras. It was like an awakening. From
that point forward the spirit of the Honduran people has changed. Before that,
everything was negative. Now people are more enthusiastic, more motivated. I’m
also thankful to God because after the elections the investors that did not
want to invest before started visiting the banks. They are investing in this country.
I also feel there are more police and operators of justice and more commitment
to have integrity…We are seeing many people from other nations come to invest
because they see Honduras has changed. That for me is the fruit of something
that was cultivated on that day.”
Can a nation be
changed in a day? The evidence in Honduras suggests that the answer is a
resounding, “Yes!”

Church Built for New Believers
Seven years ago, missionary evangelist Marcus Bloom held his first Gospel Festival in Jharkhand in the village of Manoharpur. At that time, many people in the village gave their lives to Jesus. A church was started in the home of one of the new believers. Over time, more people from the village became Christian and the church outgrew the home. They began to meet under a tree. During the rainy season, they would meet in a mud hut but the roof of the hut was filled with holes and people still got wet.
When I heard that the village has over two hundred believers and no church building, I decided to help them build a church. We purchased a piece of land, bricks, and material for the roof. The local believers helped build the church with their own hands.
In the village, we held a mini-crusade and then dedicated the church. Several dozen villagers gave their lives to Jesus. We commissioned Pastor Haren Kandulna to pastor the church. The local believers are so excited to have a beautiful church building with a roof over their heads. One local believer said, “Now that we have a church building, I think the entire village will become Christian.”
Pastor Sunny told me, “For over five years, I have been praying for a church building in this village.” Then he choked up and started to cry because he was so happy his prayers had been answered.

Pastor’s Conference Changes Jharkhand
Five hundred pastors representing 22 out of 24 districts in the Indian state of Jharkhand came to our pastor’s conference. Also represented were pastors from the Indian states of Orissa, Bihar, Assam, Sikkim, Chhatisgar, West Bengal, and from the nation of Nepal and the border of Bhutan. The pastors came from a broad spectrum of denominations including Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, Baptist, Pentecostal, Assembly of God, and the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Some pastors traveled for several days from remote villages to attend. They arrived by auto-rickshaw, bus, walking, and by motorcycle. Before they gave their lives to Jesus, many of the pastors were from Hindu, Muslim, and Tribal religion backgrounds.
Because of the poverty in India, we helped pay for the pastor’s transportation and we provided lodging and food during the five day conference. Pastor A.J. Barjo from Ranchi said, “The conference was historical for our city. It was very well organized. Every pastor enjoyed this conference and appreciated the spiritual food and the physical food that we were fed. All the pastors are now motivated to go reach the lost.”
A member of the State Parliament and a Cabinet Minister welcomed the pastors to Ranchi. A Hindu newspaper reported on the conference with a favorable review.
On the first night of the conference, our team felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to give an altar call. Even though only pastors were supposed to be in attendance, we obeyed and a Hindu man who was visiting responded by giving his life to Jesus.
The focus of the conference was on soul winning. We challenged the pastors to go to the unreached villages of Jharkhand to plant churches.
The pastors were extremely attentive and took notes on each message. Daniel’s mother Susan challenged the pastors to pray diligently. Daniel’s brother David spoke about “God’s Purpose for Your Life.” Daniel spoke on “3 Reasons to be a Soul Winner”, “How to Lead People to Jesus,” and “The Fire of God.” Our co-evangelist Marcus Bloom spoke on “7 Gospel Truths” and “7 Secrets of a Successful Ministry.” He gave a copy of his new book “The Final Lap” to every pastor.
On the final day, we laid hands on each pastor and sent them out to fulfill the Great Commission. Many pastors were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in other tongues for the first time. They returned home happy and motivated to do big things for God!
Ranchi, India Impacted by the Gospel
Thousands of people attended each night of our Gospel Festival in Ranchi, India.Excitement was high in the city when we arrived. Colorful posters promising salvation and miracles covered the walls of the city. Massive billboards and banners combined with radio and television ads created excitement about the event.
A clear salvation message was preached each evening. One night, Daniel preached on “The Paralyzed Man”, another night he preached on “The Four Greatest Miracles in the Bible.” Daniel’s co-evangelist from Sweden, Marcus Bloom, preached on “The Cross of Jesus,” “The Adulterous Woman,” and “The Rich Man and Lazarus.”When the altar call was given, thousands of people streamed forward to the front to receive Jesus. As they entered the altar call area, a counselor greeted each person by handing him or her a copy of the Gospel of John and a decision card. Around 10,000 decision cards were filled out by the end of the five-day festival.
The Gospel Festival also aired each day on three major television stations in Ranchi and Delhi that reach most of northern India. Our half-hour program was aired three times each day to hundreds of thousands of viewers. In response to the television program, over 700 people called asking for prayer.

Christmas in Mexico
The mother, her 6-year-old son, and her 10-year-old daughter grabbed my attention. They lived in a tiny shack made of wooden pallets and cardboard boxes. They were cold and hungry on the day before Christmas.
Right away, I handed the mother two sacks, one full of beans and another full of rice. We gave each member of the family a coat. I found a brown teddy bear with a red ribbon around his neck and handed it to the girl and then I gave a brand-new soccer ball to the boy. These toys were the only gifts they would receive that Christmas.
Before they went home, I gave each of them a bag filled with peanuts, candy, an orange and an apple.
I was only twelve years old at that time, but even as a child, I knew I was making a real difference in the life of that Mexican family.
You Can Make a Difference
For over twenty years, my family has been ministering in Juarez, Mexico. Every Christmas, we made it a family tradition to bring Christmas to the children of Mexico. Every year, I felt privileged to make a difference in the life of Mexican children.
Today, the need in Juarez is greater than ever before. Because of drug gangs, violence has hit an all time high in the city. CBS News recently reported that “Juarez has become the murder capital of the world.”
The need is great. So, I decided to return to Juarez, Mexico for our next big outreach. We are calling it: “Fiesta de la Navidad” (Christmas Celebration).
* This Christmas, we will take a message of hope to Ciudad Juarez.
* This Christmas, we will give away Christmas gifts to the poorest of the poor in Juarez.
* This Christmas, we need your help to do this outreach.
How Can You Help?

Can you send us a big box filled with stuffed animals, balls (soccer balls, tennis balls, basketballs, and volleyballs), and toys? Ask your church if you can put out a box in the church foyer to collect toys to send to Mexico.

Church Dedication in Nepal
Here are some pictures from the church we built in the Nepal. On August 18, they did a dedication ceremony for the new building! Many of these precious people gave their lives to Jesus during our Gospel Festival. Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible.
